Day 11 | $24,666 paid | $66,051 till freedom
I was just over at a colleague’s desk showing him the blog and I was shocked to see an ad on the site. I must look like the biggest sell-out ever, considering the post where I specifically guaranteed that this blog would remain ad-free.
I did a Google search and came across the following explanation:
Sometimes, your readers might notice an ad on one of your WordPress blog pages. There is no reason for panic. As WordPress is a free service, they sometimes display discreet advertisements in the blogs, for the purpose of keeping the free features free.
Hopefully I haven’t lost any credibility over this 🙂
You can pay a little money to get rid of the ads permanently. Doesn’t help your cause, I know, but it may make you feel less… sell out-y.
Also, keep up the good work!
haha, nope–can’t go backwards! but thanks for the heads up.
I am following your every step. I have about $45K in student loans and i would love to pay them off in 5 months. (The best goals are crazy goals!) I am picking up tips and tricks from you. Financially, I am on the other side of the spectrum however so I have to get creative (30-40k/year salary in a call center).
What stands out to me in your blog is the methodical way you tackle everything. For example your Craigslist reply ad, the breakdown of the bike expenses and why, and lets not forget the outlook on your financial situation (IRA, 401K, Savings, etc) along with potential upsides and downsides of each. That’s how I like to think about situations.
Fortunately (or unfortunately), I am still figuring out what skills I can use to make extra money. maybe I can rent a boat for these East Coast floods and save kittens…joking.
Keep up the work. I wonder if the blog will end in July or will you focus on the opportunities you have without debt. That will be a nice read as well.
LOL, you totally need to save kittens. Tell me you did it! Thanks for your note–I wish you the best of luck. I hope you can pay off your loans ahead of time.
I will keep you updated. I will say I like your excel sheet for your debt tracking. I totally copied it 🙂 Maybe you can post the blank file for others who want to follow in your footsteps (same thing for craigslist reply ad, I personally found it helpful).
When we are all debt free, we should hold a meet up or something. Buy out a hotel lol for a weekend.
THAT WOULD BE SICK.
BTW, there’s a link to the blank in “Pro Forma Income Statement Revealed”
No, we don’t think that.
Nice. Appreciate that.
Why wouldn’t you want to make thousands of dollars a month from your blog? Isn’t that easier than pedi-cabbing?

I don’t get *that* many hits!
